Animal Control


On August 12, 2004, the City of Moulton adopted a new code of ordinances which included Animal Control.
The Chief of Police is the designated Animal Control Officer. Animal Control is located in Chapter 2 of the code of ordinances and includes:

Article 2.01 General Provisions
Article 2.02 Rabies Control
Article 2.03 Vicious or Dangerous Animals
Article 2.04 Impoundment
Article 2.05 Livestock, Swine or Fowl
Article 2.06 Enforcement

Under Sec. 2.01.002 Positive Control of Pet Animals Required (A) Pet animals shall be prohibted from running at large. Al pet animals shall be kept in the confines of the owner's presmises, either by fence, leash, chain, or similar devise. It shall be unlawful for any owner to permit pet animals to run or be at large upon a public street, public grounds or property or any private property. This shall not be construed as to prohibit any owner from exercising his/her pet animal off the owners premises, provided that at such time the owner shall keep such animal under positive control by the use of a leash, chain or similar devise. Any animals found to be running at large will be picked up and placed in the animal shelter.
(B) It is understood that, due to the nature of domestic cats, this section is to be applied with due care.

Under Sec 2.02.001 Vaccination of dogs and cats
The owner or custodian (excluding animal shelters) of each domestic dog or cat shall have the animal vaccinated against rabies by four (4) months of age. The animal must receivee a booster within the 12-month interval following the initial vaccination. Every domestic dog or cat must be re-vaccinated against rabies at a minimum of at eleast once every three years with a rabies vaccine licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture.
